✅ [Organic Cotton] Organic cotton is mostly sourced from India, but it tends to be dry and brittle. The Turkish cotton we use here is characterized by its stable quality and high moisture retention. Organic cotton is difficult to use for denim fabric because of its short fiber length and low strength, which can lead to thread shedding during the fabric manufacturing process. However, Kuroki, a company that produces denim fabric from start to finish in Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, uses its unique technology to produce high-quality cotton fabric. Furthermore, organic cotton accounts for only about 5% of the company's total fabric production, making it a rare fabric. Please try denim made with our carefully selected organic cotton fabric.
✅ [Specialty Selvedge Fabric, Stretch Material] Today's denim fabric is typically woven on innovative looms, which offer high production efficiency. However, these jeans are sewn on a shuttle loom (an old-fashioned power loom) to capture the natural texture, depth, and three-dimensional texture of the yarn. While shuttle looms are no longer in production, Kuroki continues to maintain and use 60 looms. Because the weave varies depending on humidity and temperature, our artisans make daily adjustments. While these jeans feature a selvedge fabric, they also feature stretch for optimal comfort. Polyurethane stretch yarns are highly stretchable, making it challenging to maintain the right tension on an old-fashioned loom. Too much tension can result in stretched fabric and poor selvedge definition, while too little tension can result in a loose weave, resulting in a fabric that fails to be used as a finished product. Kuroki's unique artisanal techniques result in a stretchy selvedge fabric.
✅ [Product certified as part of the Japanese Heritage "The Kurashiki Story that began with a single cotton flower"] Kurashiki, a city with a long history of textile production, has been recognized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as part of the Japanese Heritage Story "The Kurashiki Story that began with a single cotton flower - A textile town weaving together Japanese and Western elements." Kurashiki City has a long history of producing high-quality cotton and is home to many companies that create high-quality jeans. These jeans have been certified as part of the Japanese Heritage "The Kurashiki Story that began with a single cotton flower."
✅ [Kojima Jeans, 2 Years in the Making / Original Design] Kojima, Kurashiki City, is known as the birthplace of Japanese jeans. It's rare to find such a diverse array of specialized textile companies, from fabrics to sewing, processing, and dyeing. Being able to complete everything in Kojima allows for quick delivery and high-quality production. These jeans are manufactured in Kojima at a partner factory with a long history of sewing and processing in the area. The design, featuring red selvedge selvedge (including the red selvedge on the back of the coin pocket) and chainstitched hems, evokes a genuine vintage feel. The logo features an original design featuring a cotton seed and the Japanese flag, representing the use of organic cotton and the meticulous craftsmanship of Made in Japan. Okayama is also known as the "Land of Sunshine," so the motif evokes the sun peeking out from behind the clouds and clearing up the sky. We hope that wearing these jeans will bring a little cheer to anyone, even on a rainy day. It took approximately two years from conception to commercialization. Kojima-made jeans made with great attention to detail
