"Yanagibashi Monogatari" is a historical novel by Yamamoto Shugoro, consisting of three parts.
It depicts the awakening of love, overcoming numerous hardships, and finally being enveloped in love—a deeply moving work by Shugoro.
[The reason for creating the bold, large-print version]
My mother, who was hard of hearing and didn't watch TV, loved reading and lived a life free from dementia.
Then one day, she could no longer read the fine print of Mincho font, and began to do nothing, spending the whole day in a daze.
Worried that she might develop dementia, we tried magnifying glasses and eyeglasses, but they were ineffective, and she wouldn't read books with fine print or large type either.
As a test, I published a book with bold, large type on Kindle and showed it to her.
She was overjoyed, saying, "I can read this without glasses!"
I read it all in one day, and said, "I'll definitely read the next one!" (laughs)
I, the editor, have also developed cataracts and my vision is blurry, so I've been staying away from reading.
But the bold text is easy to read, and it reminded me of the joy of turning the page.
I hope this can offer the pleasure of reading again to those whose eyesight is failing.
Even those who are tired of reading small text on their smartphones and don't read much,
please! I want you to experience the joy of reading a novel in one sitting.
