・≪Chusen≫ Because each individual thread is dyed, it becomes softer with use and develops a unique texture. [Wafuuka]'s tenugui are dyed using chusen, a traditional Japanese technique. Chusen involves pouring dye onto plain fabric to create beautiful patterns. Because each thread is dyed, unlike printing where pigment is applied to the surface of the fabric, it does not compromise the fabric’s breathability or elasticity. This results in the comfortable feel unique to tenugui – high absorbency, quick drying, and increased softness with use. Furthermore, tenugui dyed with chusen have a unique texture with subtle color bleeding and delicate, gentle blurring, characteristics of handcraftsmanship. With each use, a small amount of dye will fall from the threads, creating a deeper, richer texture. Enjoying the way your tenugui ages is one of the joys of chusen.
